After Iowa, building an unstoppable revolution

On Monday night the Democratic Party dodged a bullet, stopping the Sanders surge just short of beating the Clinton machine and the party establishment. The question going forward is this: How long will a campaign calling for revolution be tolerated by a counter-revolutionary party? Whether you see our campaign as Plan B for Bernie supporters when the empire strikes back, or Plan A, because we need a movement that’s independent of the corporate interests that dominate the Democratic Party top to bottom…. we have to ensure this revolution lives on. Because we must build an America, and a world, that works for all of us. And we need your help.   Continue reading

Stein Says Gov. Snyder Should Be Prosecuted For Flint Crisis. Calls for New Water Infrastructure Through A Green New Deal to End Nationwide Drinking Water Crisis

Portland, Oregon, January 24th Dr. Jill Stein, a Harvard-trained medical doctor seeking the Green Party nomination for President, expressed outrage today at the recent life-threatening news from Flint, Michigan: lead concentrations in the drinking water of some residents are so high that EPA considers it “hazardous waste.” No human being should be condemned to drink water contaminated by a neurotoxin,” said Stein. Stein called for the Governor and other public officials who knew about the water poisoning but failed to act to be criminally prosecuted. Continue reading

Jill to Oregon Audience: "Fight for the Greater Good"

The Corvallis Gazette-Times, January 22, 2016 Stein Wants Corvallis to Go Green Green Party presidential hopeful Jill Stein spoke to a receptive audience of about 100 people in Corvallis on Thursday night, urging them to quit voting for “the lesser evil” and cast a ballot for genuine political change. Stein, a Massachusetts physician who was the party’s nominee in 2012 and will seek the nod again at the Green nominating convention in August, gave an hourlong stump speech at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. She spent some of that time laying out her platform, which is built around the traditional Green Party values of environmentalism, nonviolence and social justice. But she devoted most of her talk to persuading voters who feel trapped by the two-party system that a third-party candidate like her could actually win -- eventually. Continue reading

Jill Stein: "Tireless, Fearless, and Just Won't Stop"

University of North Carolina Asheville Blue Banner news editor Larisa Karr interviewed Jill during her November campaign tour of the state. The Blue Banner has now posted the video and full transcript of the interview.   Dr. Jill Stein is tireless, fearless and just won’t stop. In between campaigning in the United States and going to Paris to attend the recent COP21 conference, the Green Party Presidential Candidate sat down with the Banner last semester to discuss student loans, America’s foreign policy, and why she was handcuffed to a chair for hours during the last Presidential debate. Six Months Ahead of Schedule, Presidential Candidate Dr. Jill Stein Has Qualified For Federal Matching Funds

January 12th, Boston, Massachusetts Today Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein announced that she has raised enough money to qualify for federal matching funds for the 2016 presidential race. The announcement followed an intense week of fundraising in which Stein volunteers manned virtual phonebanks and solicited support via email and Facebook appeals.  Their goal was to reach a threshold of $5000 in matchable funds from at least 20 states. On Wednesday, volunteers cheered as the last seven states crossed the finish line, giving Stein a total of 21 qualified states. Stein qualified for matching funds almost six months earlier than in the 2012 race.  Once the Federal Election Commission approves the paperwork, all donations received by Stein will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to a limit of $250 per donor. Stein Declares Rahm Emanuel Must Go. Lambasts Key Role of Democrats In Enabling Police Killings of People of Color

Lexington, Massachusetts, Jan. 2, 2016. Today Dr. Jill Stein joined the growing majority of Chicagoans now calling for Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s resignation after the video tape of the brutal police slaying of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald became public following a recent court order for its release. “Rahm Emanuel has presided over years of extraordinary violence by the Chicago police. Now he is deeply implicated in the 400-day cover-up of a savage police killing, which enabled the Mayor’s 2015 re-election to proceed without the firestorm of protest the video has now unleashed. Following his re-election, the Mayor himself gaveled through the City Council a $5 million dollar settlement that included silencing the McDonald family. His actions starkly embroil him in a police murder cover-up he either knowingly participated in, or was negligent for not knowing about. Sweeping murder under the rug is behavior we should associate with bygone Chicago Mafia, not the current Chicago mayor. All of this warrants Emanuel’s immediate departure from office, as well as a full investigation.” Continue reading

As Extreme Weather Death Soars, Congress promotes fossil fuels

As Extreme Weather Deaths Soar, Dr. Jill Stein Decries Climate-Destroying Budget. Calls for Emergency Transition to Renewables. Despite the claims of a new climate accord in Paris, U.S. political leaders have continued to promote a massive expansion of greenhouse gas emissions while scores were killed this weekend by extreme weather. “The Obama administration has given us a lot of hot air over climate change. While world leaders in Paris were proclaiming the end of the era of fossil fuels, Obama was giving the green light to a major pipeline project exporting fracked gas and signed off on a Congressional deal to lift the ban on exporting oil,” noted Dr. Jill Stein, who is seeking the Green Party nomination for President. Stein is calling for a Green New Deal to create an emergency transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030. The plan includes public control and ownership of a decentralized energy system while ensuring jobs and equity for existing fossil fuel workers and communities most impacted by climate change. This transition pays for itself in savings from public health impacts alone, given the enormous economic benefits of preventing asthma, heart attacks, strokes, cancer and other diseases tied to fossil fuel pollution.   Continue reading
