  • In states where the Green Party does not have ballot recognition, you will not be able to do this.  

  • States not listed do not have political party affiliation as a voter registration option.

 

Federal Form

On the form itself, just write Green on the blank line. May or may not be accepted by states. No other info on parties is provided with the instructions (other than which states have open or closed primaries).

 

State Forms

Alaska: on the form itself, just write Green on the blank line. On the instructions page, Green Party of Alaska is listed as a Political Group (as distinct from Recognized Political Party).

Arizona: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. No other info on parties is provided with the instructions. [Deadline is 29 days before Election]

California: Green Party listed on the form itself. [Deadline is 15 days before Election]

Colorado: Green Party listed on the form itself.

Connecticut: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. No other info on parties is provided with the instructions. [Deadline is 7 days before the election]

Delaware: Green Party listed on the form itself.

District of Columbia: Could not access form, but instructions say you must choose a party to vote in the primary, and Statehood Green is listed. [Same day registration allowed]

Florida: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. Instructions provide link to SoS website, which lists the Green Party as a minor party.

Idaho: One can apparently not register Green, as it is not a recognized party. Four parties and “unaffiliated” are the only choices. [Deadline is 25 days before the election]

Iowa: Green Party listed on the form itself. [Same day registration allowed]

Kansas: could not find form or info

Kentucky: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. No other info on parties is provided with the instructions. [Deadline is 29 days before the election]

Louisiana: Green Party listed on the form itself. [Deadline is 30 days before the election]

Maine: Green Party listed on the form itself. [Same day registration allowed]

Maryland:  Green Party listed on the form itself. [Deadline is 21 days before the election]

Massachusetts: Green-Rainbow Party listed on form itself. [Deadline is 20 days before the election]

Nebraska: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. No other info on parties is provided with the instructions. [Deadline is the third Friday before the election]

Nevada: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. No other info on parties is provided with the instructions. [Deadline is 30 days before the election]

New Hampshire: could not find actual form. Instructions say that one may only register Dem, Repub, or unaffiliated. [Also unclear is whether same day registration is allowed, or if the deadline is 10 days before the election]

New Jersey: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. No other info on parties is provided with the instructions. [Deadline is 21 days before the election]

New Mexico: on the form itself, just write Green on the blank line. [Deadline is 28 days before the election]

New York: Green Party listed on the form itself. [Deadline is 25 days before the election]

North Carolina: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. The following disclaimer appears: If you indicate a political party that is not currently qualified, or you do not indicate a choice, you will be listed as "Unaffiliated."  There is no info on which parties are qualified on the form or in the instructions, besides Rep, Dem, and Lib. [Deadline is 25 days before the election]

Oklahoma: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. The following disclaimer appears: If you indicate a political party that is not currently qualified, or you do not indicate a choice, you will be listed as "No Party"  There is no info on which parties are qualified on the form or in the instructions, besides Rep, Dem, and Lib. [Deadline is 24 days before the election]

Oregon: Pacific Green Party listed on the form itself. [Deadline is 21 days before the election]

Pennsylvania: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. No other info on parties is provided with the instructions.[Deadline is 28 days before the election]

Rhode Island: on the form itself, one must check “other” and fill in the blank. No other info on parties is provided with the instructions.

South Dakota: on the form itself, just write Green on the blank line. [Deadline is 15 days before the election]

Utah: Green Party listed on the form itself. [Deadline is 7 days before the election]

West Virginia: MountainParty listed on the form itself. [Deadline is 21 days before the election]

Wyoming: One can apparently not register Green, as it is not a recognized party. Four parties and “unaffiliated” are the only choices. [Deadline is 14 days before the election]
